WAYLAND, MI, June 26, 2017
Come Downtown for a community celebration marking Downtown Wayland’s Eighth Anniversary as a Michigan Main Street Community. This year’s event is scheduled for Friday, July 14 from 6:00 to 10:00PM and Saturday, July 15, from 12:00 to 6:00 PM.
Being a part of Michigan Main Street means that Downtown Wayland is committed to making itself a better place through economic development, historic preservation, and community projects. The Wayland Main Street Celebration marks growth and celebrates the local businesses, volunteers, and people that make Downtown Wayland a special place to live, work, and play.
For the first time ever, Main Street Celebration will be a two-day event.
Come downtown on Friday night for food vendors and beer tents and enjoy your favorite ‘80s and ‘90s hits performed by the Electric Red and The RockShow. Dressing up in ‘80s and ‘90s clothing is highly encouraged.
The first ever Wildcat Mile is also set for Friday night at 8:00 PM. Proceeds from this fundraising run will help Wayland Cross Country team members go to summer camp.
Day 2 kicks off on Saturday with a pre-program pancake breakfast at the Wayland Fire Department from 7:00 – 9:30 AM. After breakfast, attendees can go to the Wayland City Park for the AutoBody Xperts Summer Car Show from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM.
There’s something for everyone with free kids activities, local artists, and food vendors filling up the streets of Downtown Wayland from 12-6 PM.
Day 2 also features a full entertainment lineup with performances by DJ SweebeNation, the Hard Times Band, Dee Jay the Clown, and the Wayland Union High School Jazz Band. Kari Lynch, a national recording country artist and West Michigan Native will headline this year’s celebrations.
