The 3rd Annual Fall Fun Fest is planned for October 26, 2013 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM.
The Wayland Main Street Promotion Committee is well underway planning another great event. The main event is the Chili Cook-off. The inaugural event in 2011 included 22 chili cooks and two hours of tasting. During the course of the event, over 1,200 chili tastings cups were sold, which was double the anticipated sale of 600.
This year’s Chili Cook-Off will include both a professional and amateur competition – sponsored by Hopkins Propane. Professionals will compete for the title of “Best of the West” and will be recognized on our traveling Chili Cup. Professionals must be representing a licensed restaurant and their entry must be available at their business. Professionals may promote their establishment at the event. The winner will be chosen by public vote.
Amateurs will be competing in three categories: Best White Chili, Best Red Chili, and People’s Choice. Judges will choose the winners of the best white and red chili; attendees will select the People’s Choice winner. All winners will receive a trophy and a cash prize. People’s Choice winner will receive the grand prize of $250.
All chili must be brought to the event ready-to-eat and must be prepared in a commercial kitchen. Commercial kitchen space will be available for contestants on Friday, October 25th and Saturday, October 26th. Kitchen time is first come, first serve.
The Chili Cook-off will begin at 4:00PM with the winners announced at 6:00PM.
New this year is the addition of a Harvest Craft Fair & Farmer’s Market. All products must be handmade or home grown. The market will be held on West Superior Street from 4:00PM – 8:00PM. Vendors are responsible for their own tents and tables.
Registration for both the Chili Cook-Off and Harvest Craft Fair can be found at McDuff’s Bar and Grille located at 105 E. Superior Street or at the Wayland Main Street office located at 120 W. Superior Street in Downtown Wayland. Forms can also be found here.
Registration fee for both events is only $10.
Other Fall Fun Fest activities include haunted hayrides, line dancing, trick-or-treating, and a haunted house.
